WORKSHOPs
“A model for modern regenerative agriculture.”
Why Learn About Terra Preta?
- • Fertile Soil, Naturally: Terra Preta, or “dark earth,” is a nutrient-rich soil created by indigenous Amazonian communities over 2,000 years ago. Its secret lies in its ability to retain nutrients and improve soil health for generations.
- • Sustainable and Regenerative: Unlike chemical fertilizers, Terra Preta enhances soil structure, promotes microbial life, and reduces the need for synthetic inputs.
- • Eco-Friendly Solution: The biochar component of Terra Preta sequesters carbon, helping combat climate change while enriching the soil.
What You’ll Learn in This Workshop
- • The Science Behind Terra Preta: Understand the principles of biochar, organic matter integration, and microbial activation that make this soil so effective.
- • Step-by-Step Creation: Learn how to create Terra Preta using locally available materials.
- • Applications in Your Garden or Farm:
Use Terra Preta for:
• Improving crop yields.
• Enhancing composting processes.
• Restoring degraded soils.
• Sustainability in Action: See how Terra Preta aligns with permaculture and regenerative agriculture principles.
